Pastor Amos L. Durham
Pastor Durham is the son of the late Mr. Alvin Durham and Mrs. Mary Durham. He is married to the former Ms. Janice Denise Foster. Pastor and Mrs. Durham are thankful parents of one son Terrence Lamar, and one daughter-in-law Eboni. They are also grateful grandparents of three boys, Cayden, Josiah and Grayson. They reside in Woodruff, SC. Pastor Durham and his older brother Stanley are both preachers.
Pastor Durham is a 1982 graduate of Woodruff High School. Pastor Durham is a 2010 graduate of Southern Wesleyan University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree (cum laude). In February 2007 while attending Southern Wesleyan University Pastor Durham attended Oxford University, in Oxford England for his International Studies class. In August 2017, Pastor Durham earned a Certification in Public Safety Chaplaincy from Lenoir-Rhyne Southern Lutheran Theological Seminary.
Pastor Durham pastored at the Cross Road Baptist Church in Chester, South Carolina from January 1993 until April 1997. In May of 1997 Pastor Durham became pastor of Ridgeville Baptist Church of Inman, South Carolina were he continues to serve.
Pastor Durham is a member of the South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education. He is a member of the Spartanburg County Baptist Association. Pastor Durham is the Former Chairman of the Spartanburg County Baptist Association Banquet and Pageant; Former Special Assistant to the President of the South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education; Former Assistant Secretary for the Spartanburg County Baptist Association.
Former Member of the Executive Board and Ordination Council for the Spartanburg County Baptist Association. Former Assistant Registrar, for the South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education; Former State Superintendent, Northern District, of the South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education; Former Special Assistant to the Assistant Dean of the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education.
Pastor Durham was awarded State Superintendent of the Year: South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education, five- year succession 2001- 2005. He is also the recipient of the President's Distinguish Service Award of the SC Baptist Congress of Christian Education, 2005.
On January 11, 2011, The Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina Andre Bauer conferred upon Pastor Durham the honor of Palmetto Patriot. The Palmetto Patriot Award is given for one's commitment to public service within their state and community and is the highest civilian honor that is bestowed on behalf of the Lieutenant Governor's Office.
On March 30, 2011, Pastor Durham was unanimously elected president of the Spartanburg County Baptist Congress of Christian Education. The Congress consists of 33 Baptist churches throughout Spartanburg County. Pastor Durham served a five-year term.
In March 2014, Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright named Pastor Durham as Senior Chaplain of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
In December 2014, Spartanburg County Council appointed Pastor Durham as council chaplain.
In December 2015, Pastor Durham was given the 1st Lieutenant T.M. Floyd Justice Award by Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright. This award was given for “going above and beyond the call of duty”.
In May 2018, Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina President Donald E. Greene appointed Pastor Durham Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina Law Enforcement Liaison. Pastor Durham will serve a five-year term.
